My alarm clock. Sometimes I turn it off when I wake up earlier than the set time. So I have to make sure it is on or I will usually sleep until I get a wake up call from work and that is never pleasant.

My children to make sure they are covered up and won't get cold in the middle of the night. Not only that, if there is a fire, I know exactly where they are sleeping so I could get them.

I check on my son to make sure he's ok and asleep and not breathing oddly - he has asthma, so I always check him before bed.
