Everyone wants to blame the other side or say how bad the other side is...Do people not understand that with dialogue and intelligence they can actually work together and find common ground from which to start? Everyone wants to blame a lot of things of George W. Bush for his failed foreign policy, but I ask, where in this country of ours would one find a true diplomat?.. you know someone who knows his side of the debate yet is intelligent enough to see someone else's point of view and have some negotiating skills to get something done. Everyone is so scared to lose his/her job they forget why they are there, which, if I'm not mistaken is to make this country the best it can be, and do what their constituency asks. So please if you have an example give me something that both sides can agree on and maybe, just maybe we could go from there...

I've been told that if you go far enough to the right or the left, you end up with the same thing: Tyranny.

I believe the elections showed what this country truly is at heart - MODERATE! I believe that the vast majority of people do agree on things, and would gladly compromise on every issue. The problem is our elected officials on both sides have forgotten this. The Dems coming in say they understand this from the election and want to foster it. I hope it happens. Let the far right and the far left scream and pout, and let the middle get the work done.

You don't think there is a good diplomat or negotiator in this entire country? That is completely ridiculous. The problem is that people with skills don't see the light of day in the Republican's friend-tocracy.

You are AWESOME. I almost forgot people could type things on here that weren't hateful...

That said, I really wish people would attempt to talk to each other like humans. Why does everyone have to be an enemy? Is that really necessary? I mean, heck, I am a v. liberal person married to a conservative. We like to have conversations about politics, and although we do sometimes argue, we also appreciate the different POVs we get.

Both sides have to act like adults for anything like that to happen, though.

The problem is that if one side sees political advantage they will throw out both bipartisanship and the national interest. Look how the Democratic party has placed themselves in a position where victory in Iraq would be a political disaster for themselves.
