Rumor in my family is that my great grandfather was in prison. How would I find out if this is true?

Why does it matter, it was not you so let it go. What your grandfather did in the past is history. Why try to rub salt in the wounds, you could also hurt him as well. Be careful in your decisions, you might make more trouble than you can handle!
