I have a friend who owns 45 sheep, and I can have the wool for free. I have read about sheep wool insulation, and many companies sell it. I was wondering if the process is industrial scale or if my friend and I can make enough at home for our houses!

Try the Centre for Alternative Technology;

They have a bookshop, if its not listed contact them.

I also googled and got this lot;

Plus sheeps wool is flammable. But you can use a solution of borax to make fabric inflammable; I guess you could wash the lanolin out of the wool and do the same.
