I am white British but work in a school with a high proportion of muslim children, and I am particularly interested in what young muslim people think about being muslim and living in this country.

Thank you Chick for your honesty. I knew I'd get all the racist crap on here but took the chance I'd get some real answers too.

Contrary to what some people may believe.. no names mentioned.. i'm a 22 yr old muslim born and raised in britain, went to school when i was younger, have parents who don't sponge off the state and now am a fellow taxpayer.. supporting the teenage mums, asylum seekers, general lazy unemployed.. etc etc.
Never really had any problems growing up in this country, always fitted in quite well, but i find it hugely shocking (and disappointing!) when i read pathetic stereotypical comments on here, as people are generally quite honest, with it being anonymous!
I think the recent media hype regarding islam/muslims has just escalated the negative perception most people have of muslims.
For example, the whole veil row.. everyone's entitled to their own opinion on the matter, however, how relevant is this issue to British society? 4% of the British population is Muslim, of that 4%, 0.01% wear the veil. Why then did it attract so much media attention? It is beyond me!
I think most people could do with being less judgemental.. how can people absent-mindedly take offence at a whole religious community and insinuate that they're all tax dodgers??
In response to your question.. lol was going off at a bit of a tangent there..I've always loved this country, however, I think people's attitudes need to change towards Muslims.. it would make life a hell of a lot easier and more peaceful.. I know the terrorists don't exactly alleviate the situation, however, we are not all that way inclined!!

You're welcome :-)

Some of the above who let their intellectual inferiority take over their thinking is sadly unfortunate.

Getting back to the question, to be a young Muslim in Britain can be unpleasant if they come across some the attitudes expressed here. My main concern with some Muslims is the unreported problem of British Pakistanis educational attainment.

They may be born here and they may not break our laws, but they are Muslim first and citizens second. This is what gives their religion strength, but also makes it dangerous. Indoctrination at an early age has been used by all religions and is a dangerous tool in the hands of a zealot. You only get one chance at life so enjoy it.You do not need religion to dictate life for you if you have joined up brain cells. Peace be with u.

They probably think it's bloody great, and if there's anything they dont like about they can cry racism or impoverished minority and have it changed. They got the best of both worlds, they get away with murder here and then when they feel like it go over to Pakistan or wherever and say how **** it is to live in GB before bringing back a wife/husband and half the extended family to this country that they hate so much!

Theres good and bad in all cultures...i think most young Muslims in 21st Century Britain just want to be left alone to get on with their lives in a semi Westernised way

I would just like to say i comletely agree with the muslim lady above. Yes we have spongers in this country but alot of them are from our own country. I work everyday to support them and to pay there benifits, so racist ignorance is not really tollerable

Well obviously it's like heaven for them since they all want to go there and are turning it into the new Mecca! And of course the British are welcoming them in open arms... well that action will bite them in the butt later on.

comfortable for them, the land of milk and honey.
after all they have the welfare state ,govt, the police, the law, public sector jobs, all working for their benefit.
But if your truly british , you can tell your grandfather, that he and his fellow soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice fighting for freedom and democracy that it was all in vain.
They were fighting an enemy of similar values and culture, to preserve our hard earned british way of life.Only now it has been sold by tony blair in a seedy deal for a few votes to a ppl who have no respect or values and want to take our country as their own.

Those who oppose this cancerous infiltration should spread the word..we are millions strong and we want britain back!
