I get flack although I have vac time. My boss is always talking AROUND me. The one other lady I work with tries to kiss up to him by making me look bad. Should I say something or ignore it? It is making me not want to go to work. I need this job, hours, close to home, o.k. pay, job is easy just tired of dealing with backstabbing, snobby people. I'm civil service w/hiring freeze.

It sucks but sometimes when you are in a position of needing the job, you have to find ways of dealing with it. Just remember that its JUST a job, its not your life, and everyday when you leave the parking lot leave your job there to. Go home and have fun with your kids. Maybe if you were to look at it that way and just have an I DONT GIVE A RATS *** attitude then it will get easier to deal with and it wont seem like everyone's out to get you. Then maybe you'll get along better too.

Like others have said, it's a job. Your life is at home with your kids. They don't have all those boss jokes for nothing. Boses tend to be 'different'.
You do your job, get you salary and go home (which is not too far away).
You might want to have a talk with your boss though. Just let him know that you really want to keep your job and would like a smoother atmosphere. It's his job to set the scene....

There is one of those where I work too. I think there is at least one at every job. I simply have developed the attitude that I don't need them to be happy. I will not let them take my job. I will stay right there and be oblivious (as much as possible) to them. I find humor in that I will quit on my terms not theirs so ... nah ne nah ne boo boo! lol!
Best wishes!

definitely address the problem asap. If you don't feel comfortable going to your boss, then address with your HR dept and also let them know of your concerns with your co-worker. Keep track of your performance in case you are ever questioned.
