I dont know if god exists and neither does anyone else, regardless of what they believe. First question is: what is "god"? Easy, it is a three letter word. Second question: What is YOUR interpretation of this word? By the way you have worded this question it sounds like you already have a 'picture' of what (or who in your case) god is. This picture is no doubt based on the christian church idea of "god" that you have interpreted from this view. Start again. I am not saying that the church is wrong, neither am i saying it is right. But it is not the way to "find" god. You do that yourself. One thing i am certain of is that it does not make sense to blame a word for the troubles in life.

To cover the first question, lets assume whatever it is which enables you to live, this world, and the universe, and everything beyond it to exist, is called God, whether it be a personality, luck, or just the result of what we call time.
If living on this earth is the only living we will ever experience, whatever God is has either no feelings, or no power to do anything about the suffering which goes on, on this earth.
If there is an afterlife, and that afterlife lasts for ever, and is totally happy for everyone, then it could be that God knows the future for us all, and knows that our wonderful future depends on the tiny (in relativity terms) amount of time we spend during our lives, and the suffering we do here, but doesn't interfere because in the everlasting afterlife we will benefit from our live on Earth.
If God is a personality which judges people on whether they have the ability to have faith in that God, if that God also makes people unable to believe in that God, due to their experience, and rewards some. Then I could have no respect for that God, as no one should be made to suffer, for the benefit of the few.
I write as an agnostic, and I would like to believe a situation I have imagined, where everyone got everything after death.

If you don't believe in God then you can't believe in the devil as they are opposing factions in the battle for your soul. God (if he exists) did not make your relative kill herself. She was obviously so in despair that death seemed preferable to life. The Devil (if he exists) would have welcomed her into his fold, but he didn't make her do it either. She was so unhappy and needed a friend and nobody was there for her, death was her option and she took it. God (IHE) would welcome her too, but there are those who say that suicide is a sin (back to The Devil again). Rubbish. If life is so painful that you would rather leave it then that is your business. Nothing to do with God's or the Devil's existence at all. She is happy now, out of any pain or torment she was in and you should remember her when she was happy and you were a friend. You can't blame this mythical being for the death of friends or relatives. Everyone believes they are happy until something happens to prove that they are not. Go have a pray and see how you feel.

The first part of this question could be viewed in two angles: teleological and phenomenological views. If one has amassed sufficient pious merit he/she would most likely have teleological view of creation. In the teleological paradigm there is an understanding of our pristine identity. That this body is made of gross matter - earth, water, fire, air, and ether. And beyond this gross elements there are subtle elements: mind, intelligent and false ego. And even beyond the subtle or astral elements there is
the life force. Some philosophers call this life force spirit soul, some call this life force atma, etc. This atma or spirit soul is part and parcel of God. In other words, that we are not just a bunch of DNAs and RNAs.
Antithetically people imbued with phenomenlogical mindset see the creation devoid of an intelligent designer or God. They see the world nothing other than for sensual gratificatory pursuits. We have to figure out where we fit into.
"Why can't everyone be happy?" We have differenct levels of consciounsess and have acted in different ways. We experience varying levels of happiness due to our different levels of pious disposition. This is the principle of requital epistemology. We may be happy now because we've a nice partner, car, job, etc. When we become seperated from this sensory objects in due course of time, more often than not we become unhappy. We need to go beyond the of idea "going round once" then we can see things in a deeper persective.

God does exist. Maybe God is not the one spoken of in a particular religion, but make no mistake, God is real. As for why can't everyone be happy? I can't answer that until I know what happiness is. For some happiness comes from snatching a child off of the street hurting that child. For others happiness is saving that child. Happiness is not universal, just look at Iraq. They can have what we have. Paved streets, McDonald's and porno shops, yet they resist. You cannot be happy until you find yourself and then live according to who you are. I am sorry for what you are having to endure but look at what these events have done for you. You have taken the first step to achieving happiness, you have asked a serious question. And from this question more will follow. The journey to self discovery has begun for you. Good luck.

We PRESUME to much on God.
We have to realize that there is a WAR GOING ON BETWEEN HEAVEN AND EARTH. That is, where God and Satan lives. This will not go on forever, but for a short time as Heaven describes it, and then the end will come.
God was CHALLENGED by Satan - However satan did it wisely. He didn't do it by who was more "powerful" he did it by saying "who would be the better ruler?" This caught the attention of the angelic hosts in heaven. God could have just wiped satan off the map (so to speak) but the questio would still have been unanswered. So, God allowed for a period of time for Satan and Man to rule themselves. For the last 6,000 years we've had:
Matriarch
Patriarchs
Theologies
Republics
King's / Queen's / Emperor's / Emperess's
Joint Rule
Democracies
Military rule
Communism
etc. All you can think of. However, NONE have brough peace.
So, when Satan/Mans time is over, God will return with Christ Jesus Kingdom to rule forever : )
And please, please don't think that suicide is an "unforgiveable sin" because IT IS NOT. God understands and built into us a need and desire to protect our own lives, the fact that we can't always shows that we have something wrong. Also, the Bible itself says, "the soul that is sinning, it itself shall die." So when we die, we pay for our sins. NOT AFTERWARDS in some kind of hellfire.
Cheer up, your relative is not being punished for hurting mentally.

First, I am very sorry about your loss. I have lost 3 members of my immediate family this year myself, including my father and my Grandmother. Having said that, you must understand that God did not kill any of your friends or family. We are here for a time, and we all must die. It is unfortunate that some us go before we have lived a full life. I too, was questioning my faith in God. I came across a book that I highly recommend called "Talking to Heaven" by James Van Praugh. It explains a lot, and it helped me to realize that there is a huge difference between "religion" and "spirituality". I am not a religious person, but I am spiritual. I believe we go on in spirit, and I very much believe in God. I also think this book could really help you. It's not a book about God, but a book about what happens to us after we die. I hope if you read it, it will help you understand some things and help you feel better. It really helped my father deal with his own approaching death from cancer.
One more thing. We all make our own happiness, and we are each responsible for our own choices. You can want someone to be happy, but only they can choose that path for themselves. Each day you wake up you can say "I choose to be happy today" and you can look for the positives in life. Or, you can wake up and be unhappy, and look for all the negatives to keep you down. Sometimes it's really hard to look for the positives, but they are there. I have lost a great deal this year, but I have my home, my husband, my children, my health and my future. Knowing there is life after this physical life, and having faith in God and his angels, thats what keeps me going.

God does exist look around you things don't happen by chance.
As for happiness, the problem with looking for happiness is people never look in the right place, they think other people can bring happiness or money, material possessions, or promotions and the like, but God gives us the answer in the Bible :- keep your eye simple and your whole body will be bright. This means to not strive for greatness but, instead be content with having what you need and you will be happy, trust me i learnt this lesson.
As for relative who killed herself, although i don't know the details in your relatives problems but a very good Friend of mine killed himself a few years ago, he seemed to want happiness as well but couldn't find it because he was looking to hard.
Happiness is simplicity !

i've got not a clue as to how this began out,,or will end. i do no longer mean to downrate the theist in right here, yet I do and allways have had a difficulty believeing interior the bible god. i could questian the bible god while that's advised this god concept the introduction of all there is,,,in six days. In my innovations, that makes the bible god an rather gradual philosopher. i won't be able to conceive of any god being a gradual philosopher. i might think of any god worth it is salt could think of up a introduction consisting of this in,,,,one nano 2nd. Tops. we are speaking approximately god right here arn't we. Why do the theists down fee their god so extraordinarily. no longer basically that, however the bible god takes six days and then gets drained. Who of their precise innovations needs their god getting drained. Then as I examine extra interior the bible I see the place the bible god basically did the introduction so some human beings can circulate to a effective place while they die and sing for all eturnity and different human beings gets to be a chunk of burnt toast for the comparable ammount of time. this is the lamest reason for the introduction of any universe I easily have ever heard...

Am truly sorry to hear that. I do believe in God.
Is it enough to be happy? Maybe we only learn through pain and suffering horrible though it is, according to the bible even God as Jesus had to endure the worst kind of pain and suffering for our sakes, so God definitely knows and understands your pain. make some right choices today. God Blezz
