Hope you and your daughter learned a lesson. First your daughter for trusting children to be at her home and YOU for allowing her to have the party or having her unsupervised for this to happen.... also, you need to work on your grammar

that was not a good idea for her to do that type of thing. you should have kicked those people out- people not known well. so then her ps2 would not be stoplen and she would not be drunk.
but maybe have her put it on her christmas list and then if thus party happens again whisper to your daughter that you are going to hide so that it will not get stolen for a second time. then nothing will actually really happen at all and that is a way to prevent that kind of thing, right?

Hello,

In situations of this kind its extremely annoying but the law is soley based on actual evidence. Even though you might have circumstantial evedience i.e. hear say.

Even though you might have strong suspicions, even though you can identify the people or person who you think stole the items from your house. The law says you have to prove it, you have to find someone way that shows without doubt the person took the items and thats very difficult or almost impossible under these kinds of situations.

Only for example if you could recover the stolen items & have them checked for finger prints, etc might you have grounds for a case and potential prosecution.

**If you have house insurance its probably possible to claim for the theft but thats cold comfort I'm sure.

**Hind sight & lifes university of hard knocks is a wonderful thing?

**The coppers are 100% correct sadly!

well, the pigs dont have to do anything, i live in longview washington and they would laugh at anyone calling them for a stolen property crime, they probably wouldnt even fill out a report. What she should do is make the complaint, and get any receipts and serial numbers and descriptions and take them all to the local pawnshops and tell them you will give them a reward for her stuff back. I had guns stolen and traded to a meth dealer, and the cops didnt bother doing anything. good luck with your games

The cops are right because she was drunk. Also, there are whole bunch of people and the cops are not going to waste time for some ps2 games.

If she has the receipt or the serial number of the unit, there is A CHANCE she could get her stuff back. It's happend for me before, when the kids that broke into my car (and didn't get caught) SURPRISINGLY broke into another car and got busted. The cops found SOME of my stuff at one of the kids place.

What ever you do, don't go by your kid another PS2, because she needs to learn a hard lesson of responsibility here.

The cops are right. They won't do a full investigation for petty theft. Hopefully she will learn from this and cut out this behavior. I hope you punished her. As to the PS2 and games, if you have homeowner's insurance, you may be able to file a claim on the loss.

That's disgraceful. The cops have suspects and expect the culprit to say "Oh it was me. You got me bang to rights guv." Police are too lazy to do any real work. They claim to be over-stretched, but seem to have lots of time to get down the chippy or Chinese for their supper.

The cops are right unfortunately. The only way to get them back is to retailiate. I don't suggest doing that though. Its a shame. Those kids will get theres someday.
