The Cincinnati Reds became the Redlegs in 1954. The name was changed back to the Reds in 1960.

The cincinatti reds changed their name to the redlegs for a few years in the 50's.
A funny qoute was made earlier in the 20's in which the reds jokingly told the commies to change their nickname becuase they (the reds) had it first.
