I sort off agree with you, witout saying anyone sucks Morneau should have been the mvp (or Mauer)
Yankees would still have been a playoff team without Jeter
The Twins would have been nowhere without Morneau.
Look at how the divisions played out, AL Central went to the last day.
Jeter might well be a better player, and had a better season, (debatable) but the award is Most VALUABLE Player.
No one was more valuable to his team that Morneau.

In the world of baseball there are 2 types of fans....those that hate the Yankees and those that love the Yankees. So if Jeter wins MVP you would hear one of 2 things.....Jeter deserves the MVP because he is the best player in baseball (from Yankee fans.....by the way, it's not accurate!) or Jeter isn't even the best player on his team, why is he the MVP when his numbers don't match up to Morneau's? (Anti-Yankee fans) since he didn't win we get to listen to basically the following statements....Morneau was more deserving in helping a team with less talent go just as far as the all-star loaded Yankees (Anti-Yankee fans) & Morneau didn't deserve to win the MVP because he is not a Yankee (Yankee fans). According to Yankee fans, the Yankees should win all the World Series, their players & coaches should win all the post-season awards and they spent enough money that realistically it should happen, but unfortunately for all the obnoxious Yankee fans, that's not the way it plays out! Can we imagine how obnoxious they would be should they actually win another World Series? They are almost unbearable now!

I'm from NY, a Met fan first, Yankee fan second, and Jeter and Mattingly before him are the main reasons I don't hate the Yankees anymore. But I do think Jeter is a bit overrated. I mean come on! This is not like basketball where Jordan has his hands on the ball every time the game is on the line and he comes through carrying the whole team to victory.
He's a good shortstop, good hitter, great leader. But there have been players who were great at all three. He makes some clutch plays from time to time but he's not all he's been made out as.
Part of it is that he won so many rings in his first few years. The making/hyping of a legend. But what has happened since?
He did not deserve M.V.P. this year.

why is there only one other guy backing up the yankees? that's besides the point, Jeter is by far a better player than Morneau, and Jeter contributes more to the yankees in one year, than Morneau does in 10. i didn't even know that Morneau was a candidate!
to those who say that the yankees have way too much money, you have no idea what you're talking about. what about the cubs? they have tons of money, but their owners don't fork out the money. Steinbrenner actually puts the money he makes back into baseball. you can't knock him because he loves this amazing sport.
GO YANKEES!! and i believe New York fans are definately the most dedicated fans, and we're not afraid to show it.

I was surprised when he won. I was expecting Jeter or Mauer but not Morneau. AL lacks really good hitters like NL. Morneau had a crappy 1st half of the season and Jeter had good all round season.
Jeter had a better batting average, more runs scored, stolen bases, On Base Percentage, hits, 2B, 3B,
I hate the Yankees but I think he deserved it more than anything.

No under no circumstances. ESPN governed very early interior the season that he( lebron) may be, i do no longer think of it would've even mattered what their checklist became into, or maybe how he actaully performed. i've got been noticing the previous few years, i think of it easily is going returned to the 365 days Karl Malone won. while espn starts off speaking approximately 'their %.' it on no account seems to fail. i think of that's between the greater evident 'awards' that seems to run on the common vote. As in it is XXXXXX's turn this 365 days, he's the nice and comfortable guy now. kobe probable deserved greater, yet do human beings easily need to vote for the guy that they be attentive to isint going to win? There are alot of fellows which could win it each and every 365 days and for my area, maximum years the vote is going incorrect. returned, that's a popularity contest, without defined rules. FOr my money Chris Paul deserved it greater effective than all of us this 365 days....he took that dogs and pushed it into the playoffs. He has much less to artwork with than the different playoff team available, and extremely are they even everywhere close to a playoff team without him? to me that makes him 'maximum useful'.

WELL SAID, THE YANKEE FANS JUST LOVE TO COMPLAIN AND HERE THEMSELVES COMPLAIN. IF YOU TOOK JETER OFF THE YANKEES THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE PLAYOFFS, ANYWAY. THE TWINS WOULD HAVE MISSED THE PLAYOFFS WITHOUT MORNEAU. THAT IS AN MVP.

East Coast Bias.
If Jeter was a leader, why didn't he stand up for A-Rod when the entire NY Media was all over him saying he can't perform?
