Actually wireless keyboards and mice are quite nice and remove the clutter of wires.
Just get a good quality one, like a Microsoft one.
And if your son's PC is Bluetooth equipped, get a Bluetooth capable keyboard and mouse.

That would be a great gift for your son. No its not a stupid gift at all. Yes they work, everything now is going wireless, keyboard/mice have been wireless for a long time, they are getting better every year by consuming less battery power over usage. I would suggest you get them a logitech combo found at your local computer store, staples, best buy, office depot, even wal-mart! A descent set should cost between $50-$75, the more expensive ones have quick buttons that launch specific applications in the operating system to save you time by not having to go through your programs to open it. Hope that helps!

Well, if he is using a laptop, then you should get him a notebook lock, unless he already has one. The only reason you should get him a wireless keyboard and mouse is if he needs to save space, has his computer hooked up to a large enough monitor to warrant the use of a wireless keyboard and mouse, and if it would be something he could take care of. What other options were you thinking about?

instantaneous keyboard and mouse is tremendous, and that i love it because i do not ought to paintings round a cable anymore. in certain situations once you're at a distance, there is going to be an interference and the receiver is in simple terms unable to get carry of your enter. yet it truly is at a distance of more advantageous than 3 ft/1m from the receiver so i do not imagine this is gonna be any issue for various of people. The battery will lasts lengthy for a instantaneous keyboard. it's going to take a minimum of two months or 3 until eventually a instantaneous keyboard runs out of battery skill. you're going to favor to charge your mouse for a minimum of once a week, in spite of the indisputable fact that. in spite of the indisputable fact that this is tremendous considering some mouse accepts AA batteries and also you'll use a pair of batteries on your mouse at the same time as charging yet another pair externally.

Yes they work, and he will probably love it. You should get him a bluetooth model, instead of a normal wireless set. It will cost just a little more, but he will be able to use the BT adapter for other devices also, such as if he wants to add a BT printer or sync his contacts and calendar with a BT enabled phone or PDA. I like the Microsoft explorer mouse and keyboard for Bluetooth combo, but Logitech makes a good one too.
Here is what I use:

well, if he's using a laptop you are silly to buy him a wireless keyboard and mouse set. if it's desktop , why not? they work and it's not really expensive nowadays.if your son like electronic gadget, i'm pretty sure he will like it. just check whether the PC has USB port , as most of the wirelesskeyboard and mouse set are USB. if not you need to buy a set that is using PS/2 port.

Great idea if he has a desktop. Just be sure that the model you buy is compatible with his OS. Some of the newest ones only work with XP and VISTA. Check out ratings too for the best choice.
