i have a 98 Contour and some days while i'm driving it seems like its skipping in and out of gear and then when its out of gear its straining but then engine is till spinning and goin up and then it suddenly jumps back into gear it w/ a loud knock and everthing is normal driving. i believe its stall in and out of gear. it seems like the only time it does it is when the car has run for a while. i know it has to do something w/ my transmission but i'm not sure what part of it.

You definately have a problem. Might be as simple as a shift solenoid or a complicated as a cracked value body.
Either way, get your vehicle evaluated at a local transmission shop before your problem costs you more money.

Get someone to check and make sure that the transmission is full of fluid. If it is then you definitely have a transmission problem.

Be sure to check the transmission fluid level according to the MFR's directions. It may just be that simple, low fluid level.

after u check fluid ,,drive to transmission shop th have it checked. let me guess. its been doing this for 3 months...
