For baseball players I think it was either Nolan Ryan or Ricky Henderson. Not too sure though. I know that Albert Belle got the first $10 million per year contract.

In all of sports, I recall Pele having that distinction.
Unless you include Secretariat.

In baseball, I thought it was Dave Winfield.
