I am a teacher... some feel the nature of the profession is ducking rude behaviour. Lucky, I don't have a lot of rudeness directed at me.

The rude comments that hurt are the ones that come from the people who are supposed to love me best. Sometimes we take each others 'safety quotient' for granted.

My philosophy on rude behaviour (it's kind of like a mantra):
Q-TIP (Quit Taking It Personally).

And in my personal life (when I do take it personally) I make sure I communicate my perspective CLEARLY. Otherwise... why is there a need for change?

I'm told that I can.
I tend to look at the substantive value of a comment, not the personal insult that may be attempted. So I've been known to not even realize I've been insulted.

I've had friends say; "Dude, you gonna let him get away with saying that?!"
And my reply was; "Did he say something rude? I was trying to figure out what he meant."

On the other hand - if a friend is insulted I tend to get upset.

It depends on the comment. If someone calls me a b**** or something, I can usually let it go.

But if someone makes a rude comment about my weight, it bothers me more.

It also depends on the person who made the comment. If it's someone close to me, it really bothers me. If it's a stranger, I don't care as much.

I can do so in public, but it hurts when I'm alone sometimes. I have no metaphor for you, but I'll buy your book if you can figure out how to do that all the time.

If you lie down with dogs you wake up with fleas.

Some dogs may in fact bite the hand that feeds them.

In that case you may need to put that dog to sleep.

I saw you came in contact with a rabid kerr and I am sorry for the needless anquish it cost you, but this place can be a kennel at times.

Yes I am. It doesn't really matter so much what it is I just ignore it. Comes from old age. Lots of rude stuff going on here today. I won't be on long at this rate.

Water off a ducks back.

Yes, sometimes the rude comments are better than the ones meant to aid and assist.

Sticks and Stones may break my bones, But words will never hurt me!

I've always lived by this.

To get deeper, I believe truth is truth. If someone tells me, Man you suck at Ice Hockey, I can't let that get to me, because in reality its true. If someone says, Man you suck at Football, i can say. Sorry that you feel thatway but your mistaken. Same things goes for when people say, man your fat, or you smell, or your stupid, or your ugly. Well it actually may be true, if its not, then its not.

Depends on the comment

It depends on the comment and the person....if my sister called me an F*** 'B**** than i'd be mad, but if it were a stranger i'd let it go and laugh cause they're nothing to me
