yellow dress with pearls? need help deciding on jewelry for military ball?

my military ball is this friday, and i'm wearing a strapless yellow dress with a slit up the front of the right leg and some sequin-type things on it. my friend told me to wear a pearl necklace, pearl earrings, and long white gloves.

i'm not going to wear the gloves, but would a pearl necklace and earrings look good with a yellow dress? the shoes i'm wearing are the ones with the ribbons that wrap around your leg, so i can either wear yellow, silver (i wore the silver ribbons to prom with this dress), or white ribbons with it.

any suggestions?

also, any suggestions on how to do my hair? i need something that i can do myself, because i'm broke right now and can't afford to have it done professionally. i was thinking about getting some hair clips with pearls in them that i saw at claire's and putting them in my hair, but i'm not sure about a style.

my hair goes about half way down my back and is straight. i was thinking about just doing a ponytail and curling the ends a little bit. anyone have any better suggestions?

yea, i had some silver jewelry with little yellow diamons in them but i can't find any of it now... my friend (the one that told me to wear the gloves) went to a marine ball and she said that it's like super-duper formal, that's why she said to wear the gloves, but everyone else is telling me not to.

the main problem i have with finding jewelry is that i don't have my ears pierced, so i have to find clip on or magnetic earrings, and it's hard to find those and other jewelry to match. a lot of places sell sets of jewelry with earrings for pierced ears, but i can't find them with clip on earrings.

i wouldnt wear the pearls or gloves, from the sound of the dress it doesnt seem they would fit right. i would suggest something simple in silver as far as jewelry goes, it would compliment the yellow. maybe a nice simple pair of diamond stud or solitaire dangle earrings. as far as the gloves go, they're just way too formal for your type of dress and for the situation, ive been to a few marine balls myself, believe me, theyre(the gloves) too formal. and for the shoes, id go with the silver ribbons as well

You said that the dress already has sequins on it, so wearing the pearls would probably clash with these. Instead, why don't you wear a yellow ribbon around your throat with the ends crossed over in front, and joined just at the collarbone with a sequined stud. (I wore a black velvet ribbon like this for my prom, with a sequined earring holding it shut. It looked great with my white and black dress.) You could wear the same type of sequined stud in your ears. And the same yellow ribbon on your shoes.

I would leave your hair down and curled. If you use mousse before you curl it, it will help the curl stay in longer. And maybe you could use glitter spray in your hair to match the sequins.

Try an easy updo for your hair; I think it will look good with the strapless dress.

sorry i do no longer particularly like it and that i do no longer think of it would be large for a protection rigidity ball..... i think of it particularly is merely too "promenade-y" you shouldn't bypass with a floor length gown in my view. additionally, it particularly is totally gruesome.
