We feed ours frozen bloodworms a few times a week and tend to eat anything small and meaty. They also seem to like the little black snail things I grow in the feeder fish tank. They are also a brackish water fish (fresh water with some sea salt but not too salty), though there are freshwater puffers labeled as the same thing so it may be best to check. Also depending on the size they aren't too nice to other fish (you see the beaks on them), and may take some fin off other fishes. Good luck.

Kudos for saving him from Walmart, but I would advise you not to shop there in the future. Their fish are sick, poorly cared for, and often mislabeled. It is best to just avoid buying fish there (and, in essence, boycotting the fish department)

For starters, leopard puffers are BRACKISH water fish, which means that they require some salt in their water (less than marine tank, but more than freshwater tank).

Second, puffers should be kept by themselves, always - so make sure he has a tank to himself. They do not do well with tankmates (even other puffers) - they will attack or be attacked mercilessly. Leopard / green spotted puffers are not very aggressive all around, but they will be much happier if kept alone.

They eat live and frozen meaty food (bloodworms, daphnia, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp). They also eat mussels and snails.

It is possible, though, that this puffer was improperly labeled. Green spotted puffers are often mistaken for other types of puffer, and vice versa. Please see this link to properly i.d. your puffer (the other puffers are freshwater, so it is important to know what you have)

Good luck with the little guy! Ask questions on fishforums.com if you need more help in setting up a nice brackish tank for the little guy.

He will thrive in a brackish tank by himself, preferably 10 gallons. They eat snails (if you can get someone to give you some Malaysian trumpet snails you will have an indefinite food supply for you puffer, because they reproduce like you wouldn't believe), shrimp, plankton, and different types of worms (blood, glass, tubifex). See the link for more info.

no longer an authority on puffers yet i will enable ya recognize what i do. the flora and rocks received't help. sparkling water is accessible yet a sluggish procedure from the brackish water to the fullyyt sparkling water. i have considered it finished. your problem with the angel fish appears to be like a huge clue inspite of the actuality that. they don't seem that puzzling to preserve, purely sturdy filtration is truly what they prefer. ya might want to study filtration for a worry-free tank it sounds like.

Shrimp. If I remember correctly, wal-mart has both dried shrimp and also live "ghost shrimp"
