Colace is what they give you in the hospital after the baby is born, so it should be safe to use during pregnancy, just check the label carefully.

Yes, Colace is the best to take during pregnancy. Anything WITHOUT a stimulant is just fine. I'm 29 weeks, and I can completely identify with you. Colace has been my best friend. You can take 3 per day, too.
As far as the bleeding goes, did your doctor check for a condition called placent previa? This exact same thing happened to me just before 14 weeks. My husband rushed me to the ER in the middle of the night for heavy bleeding. We found out the next day when I went to see my doctor, I had placenta previa. This happens when the placenta is too close to your cervix that if your cervix is touched (by sex or otherwise), bleeding will occur.
You might want to ask your doctor about this and/or read about it. Your placent will eventually grow up and out of the way as your pregnancy moves along.

My doctor prescribed a prenatal vitamin with a mild stool softener in it. It definitely helps, but not ALWAYS. My doctor told me several things that were safe to try, I went with glycerin suppositories. I cut them in half, I don't know why, I just started that way, half does the trick in about 15 minutes. I don't need it but once a week or 2 weeks.

Stool softeners won't hurt. Try to eat or drink anything that you find makes your bowels move (prunes, bran cereal, you can add bran to foods, juices) if this applies to you. Get some Preparation H for the hemmorhoids. Use Tucks when you wipe. Hemmorhoids are common in pregnancy due to extra weight pressing down when you sit.

I would be too nervous to take something that wasnt natural during my pregnancy, my OB recommended water, Juicy Juice to help ease bowel movements, maybe try this and if that doesn work ask your OB and then try the colace, feel better soon

Suppositories are safer than oral medications as less are absorbed by you. The other safe option is fiber (like metamucil).
I would start the metamucil and do suppositories until the metamucil kicks in. If that didn't work after a week or two I would talk to a pharmacist about other medications.

before trying stool softeners, remember that everything you take the baby gets too. Try drinking more water and eating pears or more fiber rich food.

um, try prunes, or yogurt, or more veggies? you should eat that way anyway, because the baby needs alot of vitamins and things from the veggies.. rememeber the baby takes up half of anything u out in ur body.. so take prenatal vitamins..
also.. i think citrucel (the stuff you put in water and then drink, would be fine coz its not a heavy duty pill.)
also... dont eat banana's they will hurt you more.. any other fruit is fine.
