When they are being real and not trying to be anything or anyone that they are not. There should be no cost to anyone for happiness as there is so much to be grateful for in each of our lives and as such we should be happy.

The cost of happiness can be very high in terms of the personal sacrifices we inevitably will have to make to respect our self. True heroes are even willing to sacrifice their lives. And I believe it is true for all of us that if we fail to follow or inner moral compass we will nor fully respect our self and be less happy.

At the cost when you look at your spouse/someone and know you have given them your best effort and their smile ensures your happiness.

To the extent that it doesn't hurt their children. Your kids have to come first before your own happiness...at least until the kids are 18.
