It was spread by force. By the sword, as is suggested in certain parts of the Quran. There was also a similar approach at times and in some places by Christians (The Spanish Inquisition), but was that AFTER the Muslims used force? The Crusades were certainly After Force had been used. The problem is today that too many "Fundamentalist" fanatics are STILL trying to use force, backed by misquotes or quotes from the Quran. Tragically they are even using it against fellow Muslims! Christians have renounced such practices. Christian Martyrs were real, not these "Suicide bomber" so - called martyrs!
