Ok, I have told this story before, but here it is again.
When I was growing up I had a friend whose father was an engineer. He was one of the most intelligent people I have ever known (which, I assure you, is saying something!). He was also very thoughtful in everything he said.
Once, he said something to the effect that he would be happy to answer any question that we asked. Being the sarcastic teenager I was, I asked: "Ok, what's the meaning of life?". He sat back and thought about it for a moment and then answered:
"The meaning of life is to produce more than one consumes."
This answer has always stuck with me and is quite profound on several levels. I'll leave it for you to contemplate.

No, that is an eternal question. It can't be resolved on Yahoo! Answers. There are a lot of people who will give you their opinion on it, but the real answer, the one that you will be satisfied with, has to come from you. I don't know how you'll figure it out, but I can tell you how I figured out the beginning of the answer.
Watching my children grow and learn, cultivating their sense of love and character, and spending time by myself away from civilization and office politics, and the opposite sex. Where it's just me and God. That's when your deepest thoughts and introspection comes into focus. These two things helped me begin to know why I am here.

I may not know what it is but I do know that it is not to be as judgmental or argumentative as some of the previous answers.

Who is going to show us? You? Unless you're God himself, I don't think you have a clue.
