How will it be pronounced? And what is the origin?
I feel that the meaning is most important.
And don't worry about kids making fun of names, kids will make fun of you name because they are kids! Lol.
I have the most simple first name and I got made fun of because of my name.
Also, I had to learn to deal with being made fun of becasue of my last name as well. I have a very ethnic last name and was taught to be proud becasue it was different. It has meaning and reflects my heritage. I have NEVER regretted any of my names.
So whatever you name your precious child make it meaningful and make sure you teach them to be proud of it.

Perhaps you don't know that Onan was a biblical personage who was punished because he "spilled his seed" (masturbated).
Your choice is very similar in sound and could result in negative experiences for your child.
