The greatest power is fear. People will abandon logic and do anything when they are afraid. Look at the USA--we recently let our politicians eliminate habeas corpus and spy on us. Why? To protect us from so-called "terrorists."
Fear is a stronger motivator than money. You couldn't have paid people in the USA enough to get a majority to answer "yes" to the question, "Is it okay if we imprison you without charge, access to lawyers, or a reason why?"
Fear gave birth to religion and the idea of gods. People are afraid to believe that death renders life ultimately meaningless even though such a belief could set them free. Instead, most chose to believe in an afterlife of some variety and in the idea that there is some grand reason to life that we can actually know. These same people get angry if you insult their god but would call you foolish for worshipping Zeus or Rah--gods who were around long before and for a much longer duration than our current ideas of gods. Believing that you are alone, that what happens to you is not according to some plan, and that you are not special is scary and uncomfortable. Therefore you believe the man in the costume with the fancy symbols and icons. That's fear.
Fear is the mind-killer. Fear propaganda precedes all wars and justifies human suffering.

god in not a power that belongs to the world so letting HIM alone....the most powerful thing in world is the 'power of one'. if u look at the history of man kind....the course of history was changed by a single person at a time...for better or for worst. like madam teressa, hitler, Mohammad, Jesus, Alexander, may be Spartucus (!!), Mendela and so.....it has always been one man changing the face of the world...so it is the biggest power of the world as it can influence the whole world or the majority of it.

either nature (and by nature, i technically mean the same power as what some would call god - the natural events around us and effecting us that we have no control over), love, or fear. i'm not sure.

Money, is you have money you can pretty much do anything you want.
It's all about the money, you go to school, pass, go to college and get really high paying job.
Money controls society as much as religion does.
