Engine can be sluggish to start, sounds kind of slow when you turn the key.
and they can also just quit over night.
A 30 dollar battery charger from walmart will also check the alternator for you.
Replace the battery anyway if it's 3-5 years old or more.

Check the age of the battery. If the battery's getting on 4 years old, start thinking replacement...don't wait until it's a 100 dollar tow bill...

Usually we get no 'symptoms' to forewarn us of battery failure. If the battery is older then four years, replace it. If you have an Auto Zone store in your area, they will check the charging sstem free of charge. Winter, believe it or not, is harder on a vehicle's battery than the heat of summer. Hopeful, you won't have to purchase a new battery from the dealer. Plenty of auto supply houses have replacement batteries. I think yours is a group size 27.

It can die overnight - but might show some signs beforehand. Sluggish starts, etc. You can get a battery tested for free at most auto parts stores.

If you don't use your car all the time the battery will get weak just by sitting in the garage. The only way your battery will stay good is if you use you car every day. When I didn't use the car my battery died overtime of not using it.

yes, it usually gasps for air and turns blue
seriously, go to your local auto store...they will either test the battery for you or you can buy your own very inexpensive battery tester that will also tell you if it is your alternator. A quick test for the alternator is to start your car, turn on your headlights and disconnect the negative battery cable. If the car dies, the alternator is bad. I've been doing this for years.

Might I suggest that you look it up in the owner's manual? There should be an indicator windows on your battery that you can check.
