There is a new I-pod Shuffle that is available for about $70. The new shuffles are a small square shape. The older I-pod Shuffle are rectangular and sell for a little less if you can find them.
They are called shuffle because they shuffle all the songs. One never knows what song will pop up next. Some people like this, some don't. Other I-pods let you pick specifically what you want to listen too and also show pictures. These, however, start at over $150.
For a 9-year old, I'd buy an MP3 player. Various models provide various options and they can be a lot less expensive. I saw one at Best Buy for $19.99. Because a 9 year old may lose the I-pod, I'd get him/her just a basic MP3 player.

None of them can take a beating, so you need to buy a case or skin for it. I just got my kids the 4gb ipod nano, they come in cool colors now and if you order it from Apple, it is free shipping and they engrave on the back. They also have a 2gb, but it is not offered in the colors and it only holds about 500 songs. The 4gb was $199 and the 2gb was $149.......Order now, so you will get it in time for Christmas. I really don't recommend the shuffle because it doesn't hold much, and you can't choose what song you want to listen to????

At your ladies age, this is continually all about the Disney Channel, yet because your 13 year previous is in events, probable a tomboy, you may in simple terms favor to ask her what she needs. in many situations ladies at her age are rather into present playing cards or money. For the 9 year previous, i ought to signify, intense college Musical stuff, i'm not very acquainted with HSM issues, so i will not help you accessible. in case you want to move yet otherwise attempt a Hannah Montana doll or a present certificate to Libby Liu, that shop is decked out in Hannah Montana. in the experience that your newborn is into bears, attempt construct-A-undergo, your newborn can make their own. My very last suggestion is a Bratz Dolls or a Bratz action picture. ladies love Bratz. Bratz have a large kind in toys. autos, homes, outfits, massive Heads, in the experience that your newborn isn't too "previous" for dolls, then it truly is the straightforward route to shop on with.

I also have a nine year old and he wants an i-pod, I have done some research and realized that he is not getting an i-pod, if I were to get him one it would be the i-pod shuffle.

The new shuffle is $79 (Cheapest) and very small and can probably take the most abuse. It doesn't have a screen though which he might object to.
I personally like the Nano the best but it's more expensive.

The first anwser is way wrong. The Ipod Shuffle is correct but they come in 1 GB not 1 MB (you couldn't fit 1 song on that). They are $79

I think 9 years old is much too young to have an ipod. If you really want to give him/her an MP3 player look for a much cheaper one, ipods are too expensive for children and not that durable for the treatment a 9 year old would give it.

I would get a shuffle for a 9 year old. They don't have a screen, so they're easier to use. and it's PLENTY of space for all of the songs he/she will need. The only negative is that they are smaller and more easily lost, but if he/she takes good care of it, you might upgrade him/her to the next level in a year or two.

Last Xmas I bought my 9yr old daughter a 4GB iPod nano with one of those rubber cases for it. She had looked after it well and it is practically new condition. She uses it a few times a week.
I would go for a nano with a rubber case.
Cheers!

get the ipod nano. but get a refurbished one. it's only $150 for a 4GB (1000 songs) with free shipping. but the refurbished one's are actually better than the new ones because they been tested and looked at so much. they also come with a 1 yr warranty. the nano is also in color and it's the smaller version. easier to hold. here's the site
