Buying present for each other would be very sweet...Going shopping together may be a good idea, but the feeling u get from it won't be as memorable as getting a present from someone so special to u...just imagine the momentum u'll be in when u open the present...u can always shop together anytime u want, but being a santa for ur husband is only once in a year...

I am all about making an occasion out of it and not letting anyone tell you when you need to celebrate. Go ahead and create your own post-christmas tradition. You could even buy each other some really nice gifts, wrap them nicely, and do everything you would do for Christmas, then have a romantic dinner (just the two of you) and unwrap the gifts. You would get all the experience of exchanging gifts with much less of the high prices, stress, and rush of the holidays. About the outlet shopping, I don't know about you, but I like to do it on my own. My boyfriend doesn't like shopping so, though I love his company, I prefer to take my time to chose and try things on rather than drag him along. Have fun!

If I were you, I'd opt for the "after Christmas' shopping. You should get some good deals then.
My hubby and I take ALL the stress out of our Christmas when it comes to buying each other presents...because we don't get each other anything. Instead, we take the money we would've spent on each other and do some remodeling or tweaking on our house. New carpet or furniture....get some new landscaping...stuff like that.
Anyway, Merry Christmas, no matter what you decide to do! :)

Sounds like you already have a plan but don't forget the babysitter. I don't believe in waiting for a holiday or birthday to give gifts I think that the gift should be given when you feel like it that's what really makes it a gift. Who knows when the other person will no longer be with us. I still have the last gifts I bought my wife and kids they never got to see them. Sometimes tragedy strikes at very unfortunate times.

If that's what you want to do, then do it. Each person / family has or can start their own traditions. For me, hubby and I exchange one gift and we each get a stocking. But we have 3 kids, 2 of which are teens and expensive, so we don't have a lot of money left for eachother. And just to let you know, I kind of like your idea. Sounds nice and pleasant.

I guess it depends on how rich you are. If you are wealthy enough to go out and buy individual nice gifts, then definitely do that. If you're like the rest of us (lol) maybe do a joint gift of some luxury you want for your home. My husband and I have wanted a particular TV for a while, so we've been saving our money and are going to get it for ourselves for Christmas.

you must do what you feel in your heart is the right thing to do. suggest an " inexpensive gift " as a surprise for each of you from Santa as he needs to give each of you something under the circumstances as your son might not understand " why Santa didn't get mommy and daddy anything at all. "

That is what we have done and it's saves worrying about what to get or buying something you end up taking back. We have always spent money together. We spend it on what we want and not necessarily on Christmas. We enjoy shopping together so we also do this for Birthdays.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS"

My suggestion is that you ask him. Many men simply do not like to shop. My wife an I have done it both ways and really enjoyed them all. However, it is supposed to be a treat and should be great for both parties.
