This may sound a bit silly BUT....

My due date is in May, so I have a little bit, but I was wondering if babies should be bundled up still in warmer weather, or would a short sleeved outfits be apporiate for that time a year. I live in FL, so our temps. are going to be in the high 90s by that time of year. I feel so silly, but with my first, he was born in December, so I bought the warmest thing I could find and tons of blankets, so it was easy! Thanks for your answers (bored at work and this question just came to me:)

Along..- That is really helpful. Thats more of what I was looking for. It's been a while and didn't know if newborns could regulate their temp. as well. Thanks:)

Newborns, the first week or so have a harder time regulating body temperature. Therefore you will want to dress your baby in one layer more than you would wear. So for temps in the 90's I would say a light long-sleeve outfit would be sufficient, but it is also important not to over-heat, so if baby feels warm to you it's time to undress a bit. Keep in mind the temp difference between outside and your house, which will probably be air-conditioned. Once you are past the first week or two you can just dress baby in what you would be comfortable in. Hope this helps!

I always read and was told to dress the baby like you are dressed. Like, if the temperature is 95 degrees, and you are in a t-shirt, don't put the baby in a fleece sleeper, he will overheat.

I think that I would take two outfits, one short sleeved and one long, and a hat and blanket. That way, if it is really hot that day, you can go with the short sleeve and drape the blanket across the top, or if it would be rainy and cloudy, and cooler, go with the long sleeve.

I would bring a light sleeper-- (cotton & long sleeves) to protect the baby from the sun.

You could also use the short sleeve outfit w/ a receiving blanket.

Congrats!

My son was born in June (in MA) so we dressed him in a short sleeved onesie and wrapped him in two receiving blankets. I was told that you should dress a newborn as if it is 10 degrees cooler than it actually is.

A onesie teeshirt, a lightweight hat and a light blanket should be enough to keep the baby comfortable and out of the sun.

i was always told and always did dress the baby in what you are wearing and add a light blanket if its warm and a heavy blaket if its cold. Worked well with my three kids 5, 3, and 2 months.

you can bring a cute outfit for the baby pictures but bring a soft sleeper you will find that all those cute little outfits are really wasted because the will mostly stay in their sleepers.
