My bed is in an area in which I can't fit a whole box spring due to the doorways etc. (the mattress bends and can therefore fit). Is there such a thing as a foldable box spring that can fit through doorways easier, and if so where can you get them? Trying to avoid futons... Thanks.

in North America, major mattress manufacturers offer a "split box" boxspring. They can be purchased anywhere that sells mattresses.

assuming queen size is what you are after, cheap ones can be got for about a hundred dollars each perhaps up to two fifty each for top of the line heavy duty sorts.

But the basic is likely all you need unless you expect the weight on them to be very great.

When purchased new, split boxes add only about a hundred dollars to the cost of a set.
Kingsize beds always are sold with the split box design for the same reasons you are currently experiencing.

if you are trying to fit a double, trying to find a custom order split box is likely to be a trial, you are better off buying a new queen set with the split box

Folding boxes I have heard are available in the UK, but that is something i do not have direct experience with.

I don't know about foldable, but some king size beds have split boxsprings, so that they come in two smaller pieces.
