Actually we are going to Martha's Vineyard over Christmas to be with family. We've been there before at this time of year. The accomodations are virtually empty. Some of the restaurants are closed, but many are open. It's great not to have deal with the crowds, but the weather limits what you can do. If you like walking in the cold, it's fine, but I doubt you'll get much beach time in ... LOL

The population on both islands goes down dramatically during the winter season. The islands are still amazing places to visit during the winter though, on Nantucket they have something called the Christmas Stroll and tons of people flock back to the island for that particualr weekend. But the activity does dimisih.

Lots of people only live there during summer, so in winter it's pretty empty and alot of the stuff closes. Basically no crowds or anything, but then again- not a lot to do.
