There may be a country's leader that "hates" america (Hugo Chavez of Venezuela certainly didn't like American capitalism, but I wouldn't say Venezuelans hate America) -- such as Fidel Castro of Cuba, probably the leaders of the Palestinian Authority, Qadafi of Libya (up until recently), some hardline Chinese communist leaders; and there may be some countries in which a majority of the people don't have a favorable image of America (I'd include North Korea, Iran, and, to a lesser extent, France), but I don't think there are countries that "hate" us, perhaps the way it was during the cold war.

Most enemies of the U.S. today would be categorized into two camps -- rogue groups of non-nation states (like al Qaeda) and economic "enemies" who simply want to displace America as the great economic superpower (like China, India, and, to a lesser extent, the E.U.) Both must be considered.

I'm an American and have traveled to a few different countries (France included, gasp!) and have felt no hostility simply because I am an American. Most people are intelligent enough to not judge a whole nation on the acts of one man.
