It's something I've never understood. I actually find it a turn-off.

If you find it a turn-off, then men in uniform are NOT sexy. A better question would have been 'why do SOME women find a man in uniform sexy?'

The reasons are basically a primitive response to the warrior male. A warrior-themed male arouses responses in women having to do with protection, safety, security etc. which in turn translate into feelings of attraction. Its the same reason women are attracted to muscles.

I could be prejudiced here but I married a man who joined the Air Force. I found him sexier than ever!!!!!!!!
A man in Uniform to me looks better because they hold themselves better. I can even spot a Military man (or Ex-military) man in civvies.
(Unless its a very short stint in the Army etc.) They dont lose that walk!!!
I still find them Sexy but if they behave all Mr Macho they'd turn me off very quickly!
Some in uniform dont do it for me, traffic wardens the best example I can think of! I think for me its not the uniform its How it is worn!
Why do you find it a turn off?

As much as I am all for the women's movement... Men in uniform are just ...powerful. Perhaps it is a sense of security instilled in a professional man...almost as though those who find it attractive need to have an authority figure (something "in charge") in their lives. That's just my take on it. There are probably a plethora of reasons out there.

I can say simply that I am attracted to "men in uniform" the same way that I am attracted to my husband, whose "uniform" for work is pretty much made of gasoline, grease, and sweat. They HAVE JOBS AND WORK HARD! that's a turn on. There's something special about a guy who works himself to the bone.

There's an idea floating around, as rather famously explored on a Sex and the City episode, that women just want to be rescued, as uniformed professions (firefighter, police, military) all in theory require a certain level of physical fitness and involve the one in uniform putting him/herself in harm's way.

I think it's the whole authority figure thing that turns some women on. They look at it as someone to watch over them, make them feel safe, and what's more desirable than that to some? Good Luck!!

oooooo...HOMANA HOMANA........erm, i mean, oh fek!.....(wipes off drool from mouth). Sorry, you mentioned men in uniform. I love it when my partner puts his on, he's an ex para. It adds to the whole butchness of a guy, the smartness, the sexyness, and the fact of being able to (coughs), erm play!
