Not answer the phone. If that is not an option... It really depends on your situation and what type of relationship you have with your boss. I am sure you already know the answer to that. If this continues to be a problem you probably need to look for another job.

First of all I don't answer the phone at midnight from my boss. He'll have to catch me me when he can. If I'm off, then I'm off don't call me unless you want a beat down.

That's disrespectful...very. A call at midnight indicates since he's your boss, he can call you at any inopportuning, outrageous hour he feels like it and tell you what to do. I would definitely ask him WHY he is calling you so late and tell him "no".

Don't you have caller id??? Don't answer the phone next time...

Well, you should go in if you can. It would make you look like a more responsible employee. But if you are over-worked and need a break, I would tell them you are really sorry and you would come in except you already made a commitment to something else and you can't.

I'd have to show up for work. It's too hard to find a job right now & I could use the money anyway.

Unless I had rock-solid plans, I guess I'd go in. But I'd say "Man you better make it worth my while", and mean it!! :)
