Lots of complex carbs, lots of water, and lots of protein. Take your current weight. Multiply by 2.5. This is how many grams of carbs you should take a day. Multiply by 1.5. This is how many grams of protein you should eat. Multiply by .5. This is how many grams of fat you should eat. So if you are say 150 pounds, you will be eating 375 g of carbs, 225 g of protein, and 75 g of fat or about 3000 calories a day. Work out hard! And I mean hard! And drink lots of water. 2-3 liters.
You'll gain about 2-3 pounds a week so you should reach your goal in about 15-20 weeks. Some of if it will be fat but it is not an unhealthy way to gain weight. Besides, you're gaining to play ball, not for a bodybuilding competition.

Talk to your coach and the coaching staff of the team. They can involve you in a training program and these days most coaches know a lot about nutrition.
Unless you are already HUGE 30-50 pounds is too much to think about gaining in time for next football season.

Lift your *** off and do speed work and let your speed be your advantage and not your bulk. Look at the players who lost weight and increased speed (Strayhan for one). Gain weight at a natural pace and don't force it. Get strong and fast instead. Try getting smarter too and out fox your opponent.
