well said! A Harley and a pis* pot helmet! The TT is full of them, they probably get in to their nice comfy Rover when they get home and tell all their middle aged mates in the pub that they are 'proper' bikers!

What's a PROPER BIKE? There's no doubt some people pick Harleys for the same reason some folks buy an H2. Just looking for status. But most of the bikers I know ride what they like. It's the same with everything culturally. You have your individuals, and then you have your conformists. Most people are simply following some kind of path they have been led to believe will assert their individuality, when the reality is it's all a result of very effective product marketing. Most people who are buying new 'things' in hopes of those things defining them, are a bit on the insecure side. A true original is not defined by what they can afford. Some of the wealthiest people I know don't have tons of bling in their lives.

LondonLee, I'll just take my 2 points, and tell you that a Harley IS the proper bike. Perhaps you are referring to a Chopper, then perhaps I would understand your question. But, a plain, although, there really is nothing PLAIN about a them, Harley is what pretty much every man at some point in time that has wanted to ride a bike, dreamed of owning a Harley. It, after all, is the first American motorcycle to stand the test of time.

......and KU's dad couldn't afford a Harley and that's why he is trashing it. Good Luck with that turd of a Crotchrocket, KU's dad.

I won't know where the middle of my life was until I have reached the end. I don't know what YOU call a proper bike, but I know what I like. I had my Suzuki, my Yamaha, and a bunch of Hondas. If you're talking a British bike, the only ones I've seen over here are overpriced antiques. I like my HD Superglide. There is not another motorcycle company in the world that makes a bike like it. And, there is not another Superglide in the world quite like mine.

How did you personalize yours? Playing cards in the spokes, perhaps?

It never ceases to amaze me how guys on japper crappers and japper hogs are constantly trying to insult Harley riders. To my knowledge, you don't see the reverse; most guys who are into HD are into the two wheel experience and enjoy it their own way, respecting others' right to do the same without the need to put others down.

Personally, I could give a s'hit less what someone rides as long as they have RESPECT FOR THE OTHER GUY TO CHOOSE WHAT HE WANTS TO RIDE WITHOUT GETTING YOUR F'UCKING OPINION ABOUT IT SHOVED IN HIS FACE LIKE A GAUNTLET THROWN DOWN!!!!!!!!!

A guy who lives in my apartment complex was always insulting Harleys and spouting old wives tales about leaking oil, hard starting, etc. He had some Honda something or other; a crotch rocket that looked like an athletic shoe. While I never had a breakdown in 5 years of hard riding with my Road King living outside in all weather, his Jap POS was always in the shop for something or other. Then he sold it and quietly bought a Sportster and shut the f'uck up. I didn't care either way what he rode; I was just glad he finally shut up because he was a loudmouth, penis envying little fa'ggot punk a'ss like you who thought that putting other peoples' bikes down made his own rickety piece of crap just a little more acceptable.

It boggles the mind to think what motivates people. If you're lucky, you'll come to the realization that it isn't important what you ride; only that YOU enjoy it. That's what Harley riders realize, and that's why they have no desire (unless provoked by ignoramuses like you insulting us for no reason) to put anyone down for enjoying being on two wheels IN WHATEVER WAY HE CHOOSES!

Live and be well, douchebag. And please don't ride in my space EVER!

Scared of proper bikes?? Have you ridden a Harley at any kinda speed round a corner? Scared the **** outta me. I'll stick to my poofy, safe cornering R6. What's a proper bike anyway most of the old geezers I know ride modded bandits.

Lots of guys going through mid-life crisis buy status machines. You notice them on Harleys but they're also in Jags and Corvettes.
