I personally have seen a few homeless people around my way, which aren't that messed up in the head. I would offer one of them a new start in a 3rd world country. The airfare might cost around $700, with the remaining money that person can live for $50-$100 a month in that country. I would arrange for that person a place to stay and help them find a job. Being an english speaking american, they will have an easier time finding a job, compared to the locals. He/she would start a new life, and make a pretty good salary according to that countries standard. It'll help them to regain their confidence as a working individual. (I know it'll probably be hard to convince a homeless person to go to another country, but it's an idea :p) What's yours?

Okay only because i know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I'm not gonna give you one of those speeches my mom gave me when i asked something stupid like that. Have you ever been homeless? How many homeless people do you know personally? Have you ever heard the saying that most people are just one paycheck away from being homeless? You'd be surprised how many homeless people aren't that messed up in the head? You're idea is "great". But if i had 1250 to spend on a homeless person, i would pick one out of a local homeless shelter, one who is already one the fast track out of being homeless. A single mother with kids most likely. I would give it to her case manager to save for her and her kids to put towards a down payment for an apartment. That's what i would do. They do have places where the "homeless" there are normal, everyday people who need a hand up, not a hand out. Why would you want to send anybody to another country to help them out of homelessness? That doesn't make sense. Some many people from third world countries are trying to get into America because they can't make it there. Are you trying to make it someones Else's problem? Out of sight out of mind?

Are you competing with Oprah? Anyway, I would not ship them to a 3rd World Country that has no resources to help them. The only advantage that homeless people have is that they live in a rich country and are surrounded by resources that could help them. The problem is that these resources are not readily available to them because they have no insurance, no work skills and no one to show them the system. A lot of these people are physically and medically ill and need treatment before they can take the next step towards getting their life on track. So I would spend the money to get a homeless person evaluated by medical personnel and placed into a treatment program.

Why would you impose your resonsibilty on a country that is already struggling with there own problems. Why would you want to take food from the mouth of a starving child. What makes you thing another country would accept your problem. 3rd world or not they have conditions in their own laws for who will live & work in their country. Doubt very much this person would have a chance. If I had that money to help a homeless person, I would give it to the Salvation Army. They would see many that many such people would get food, clothes & shelter with that sum.

your ideas sucks! homeless people are usually homeless because they want to be. they're lazy, happy and they make pretty good money begging. i read that a homeless person will make about $40k a yr and if they have a dog with them it gives them about 60% more. this study was done by michigan state university a few years ago. it was conducted over a 5 yr span. but if i had that much money just for a homeless man, i would take him out to lunch, tell him i'm going to give him 3 months to get cleaned up and working and if he didn't do that i would come back and find him and kill him. maybe that'd get his *** in gear

I would get him some good work clothes, maybe from Wal-Mart or some where cheap... Put him up in a weekly hotel for about $199 a week. Get him some food and have him start looking for a job. He should have enough money to eat cheap and live until he get paid.

I have yet to see a responsible homeless person. If I have the much money to give then I would give it to the shelter. They could use the money to by food to feed the homeless.

jobs are really scarce in other countries, so they would likely have a hard time finding one.
It would be better to give him a YMCA membership, some sort of car to live in that runs and can get him to work, and a few changes of clean clothes. THen he can shower, go apply for a job, and get himself out of his rut.

I would send he or she to a place where they could get help with the situation that made them homeless. Sometimes all people need is someone who cares and is willing to listen to their story.

I would donate it to a shelter to help provide food and clothing, or a place for kids to play.

I wouldn't bother. Bad choices got the homeless person to where they are, there's nothing you can do to change their life around. They have to want to change.
