Don't let that get you down. My mom and a few friends went to college in their 30s. I have friends here on campus who are 22, almost 23 and are freshmen. When you're in college, no one really looks at your age or judges you nearly as much as high school. It's a new environment and most of the high school drama has gone away, especially if you go out of state.

You are not too old at all. Some people start late and some people go for more than 4 years. Your situation is not uncommon. 22 is not late. If you are really worried about being too old, they have schools that are for working adults, so there will be older people.

I just turned 23 and I'm still making my way through college. I was originally in school to be a mechanical engineer and had a life changing event that changed my view of life and I decided to go into finance. Even when I first started school, there were many many people our age and older. I was in class with people who had KIDS in college. Nobody thought anything of it. It is very normal for people to have to start college later in life. Nobody will consider you strange and it is highly likely that there will be many people your age and considerably older in your classes. I wouldn't even worry about it. Also, make sure to fill out your FAFSA online so you can see if you can get grants to help you through school. I have two years to go before I get my bachelor's degree, still! And I don't feel wierd at all. There are so many of us who had to work our way through it all and had to pay it ourselves. You'll be suprised how few people there really are out there whose mommy's and daddy's paid for everything and never had to work during college. We're a part of the real world and reality is that not everyone can afford to bang out four years of college right after highschool. Don't sweat it, just jump in and enjoy it! Many professors appreciate your life experience and love it when you incorporate that into your class work.

no it wont.....there are people who are in college for years and years and years because theyre lost and dont know what they want to do.....when i went o college right after high school i noticed that the people varied in age drastically. I mean there was alot of older people, every class was mixed with different age groups and ethic groups. I think it makes the experience twice as much fun and you actually learn alot from everyones different prospective on life. good luck and god bless
