Strep Thoart and School.?

Question

I am in school and I told my mother I may have strep thorat, cause the back of my mouth is all red and bumpy (i can tell cause I am taking my tongue over it right now!) and I dont want to give any of the other kids strep if I do have it . Everytime I tell my mom she says "no, you dont. go sit down some where'' 9not excact words just the meanign of what she is saying.

I also looked up sytompon (sp?) last night and they were
red and white patches in the throat (check)
difficulty swallowing (check)
tender or swollen glands (lymph nodes) in the neck (i think so)
red and enlarged tonsils (sorta)
headache (not really)
lower stomach pain (nope)
fever (yes)
general discomfort, uneasiness, or ill feeling (little bit)
loss of appetite and nausea (not really, cept I hate to sallow cause it hurts)
rash (unless the eczema on my neck counts nope)

Without a culture there is no way to tell if you have strep throat.

If you have a sore throat with white patches on your tonsils you need to go to the doctor and get checked cause you may need antibiotics. An untreated strep infection can cause heart problems.

If you do have strep throat it can only be treated with antibiotics that the doctor must give you and you are contagious until 24 hours after the antibiotics are in your system. Have your mom call the doctor or go visit your school nurse tomorrow.

Strep throat is contagious and you have to be really clean about it. Whenever you cough always wash your hands. Whenever I used to have it I would just stay home for a few days and make sure I wiped down everything that I used, to clean germs away. I also, most importantly, wiped down the phone everytime I used it. Hope you feel better!

If you had strep there would be white spots on the back of your throat and you would have a fever.

i ahev the same thing. some time the bumps get bigger. but i think u r ok. i told my dad and mom, they said it ok, ur fine.
