I posted this in the Weddings category, and didn't get much in the way of helpful responses, so I'm really hoping to get some good input in another category.

The plan is that we will hire a babysitter for the evening (possibly two), to have them coordinate fun stuff for the kids who'll be at the wedding. They'll be in a room that is attached to the banquet hall, and will all be fully visible to their parents, and they'll all be entirely allowed to go back & forth between rooms. The concept is not to exclude them from the wedding festivities, but instead to give them something to do that's a bit more interesting for them than a bunch of speeches by grown-ups they've never met!

What do you all think would be appropriate activities? We will need to avoid anything that might cause problems with the carpet (no play-doh, glue or paint). We probably also need to have a balance between quiet-time activities, and physical activities.

Ideas???

Easy...there is always a pinata full of candy that they can swing at with a bat, musical chairs, have a game like a cake walk where they can win small party prizes in the wedding colors (pencils, crayons, sunglasses, etc.), get rubber ducks with plastic numbers on the bottom, let them line up and grab a duck and correspond each duck with a prize, have a treasure hunt, scavenger hunt, etc. Hope this helps some! Tell your sister congratulations!

We had several of the Crayola pads and markers that only marked on that type of paper. It worked out well. We also had disposable cameras that we encouraged them to use. They took some of the best pictures. We also got them involved in the dancing, electric slide, chicken dance, and twist contest. The parents also had a good time and there were lots of laughs all around. My nephew still talks about his wedding day and he is only 9. He also asks when we are going to do it again. If you can find Polaroids and film this is also a good idea to go with them crafting a picture frame. That way they can take it home to remember the fun they had.
