Does anyone know the meaning of crystals, as in amethyst etc...?

I would like to start to use crystals to see if it will add something to my house like protective and calming and mind clearing. I'd also like to learn about herbs also, No, I'm not a witch or anything I just thought I would try to let nature do its thing and see how it goes. Plus different crystals are pretty....

I started with a grounding stone called Hematite which you can buy as a necklace, and its effects were quite dramatic! That started me on the road to discovering other stones.

There's a nice Greek story about amethyst. Apparently some girl refused to get drunk, so she incurred the rath of Dionsyos. To protect her, Diana turned her into clear quartz. Dinsyos in a rage knocked over his goblet turning the quartz a purple colour. Amethyst means, 'Not drunk' many Greeks drank from Amethyst goblets to protect themselves from becoming too drunk. Quartz also means 'ice' in Greek.

Rose Quartz is a wonderful stone. It calms hyperactive children, helps heal trauma, brings abundant love & it is a great all-rounder kind of a stone. The best thing to do with it, would be to leave it on your bedroom window. The sunlight will flow through it & disperse around the house.

Many electrical objects have quartz components - clocks, watches, record decks etc. When you compress it, it conducts electricty. So if you hold a stone in your hand, the energy will flow through it & back into you.

If you want to balance your Chakra's, pass some clear quartz down along the front of your body slowly.

When choosing stones, go for whatever one you're drawn to, pick it up & if it gets hot almost instantly, then it's the stone you're meant to have.

Beg to differ if you want to use crystals and herbs to improve your life and protect your house. You are practicing a good portion of Wicca. There are books that will tell you which stones and herbs to use and in what combination to achieve the best results.

Amethysts touching the skin are supposed to bring about what you dream for. Pink rose quartz is for love, clear quartz for clarity. There are a lot of neat books out. Like you, I enjoy crystals and semi-preciouis stones and have read up on some of the possible advantages.

,ya they are made up of elements, there are 6 crystal classes, amethyst is quartz it is orthorhombic. elements SiO2 and have some iron that makes it purple it also when radiated will turn that color. it is piezoelectric. it is i think a 7 on the mohas scale of hardness. the main continuance of the earths crust is quartz. the only way however that they will protect you is if throw them at intruders and they fall and impale themselves on them and yes different crystals are pretty just like me

Amber is what Hitler used to manipulate the masses and he had a meditations room with amber on the ceiling floor and walls.even amber furniture it is also a protective crystal.
