The people who condemn them have not/cannot read them.

The Harry Potter books are stories of good resisting and defeating evil. Those who want to burn them are supporting evil, and the book burning they desire is by itself evil.

The Potter books have revived the interest of children around the globe in reading. Much to the chagrin of those who oppose education and learning in order to have a more easily fooled populace.

You used the correct word, "insane" actions by really really stupid people, some of whom are educated (does not overcome inherent stupidity) but most of whom are sheep that walk on two legs. Talk about Satanic...

I yelled at a pastor who was leading his church in a protest of the second book (the one that outsold the bible, i think) in front of Books-a-million.He had a thorough discussion with me, citing two verses, and only two amazingly obscure verses, saying witchcraft is wrong.

I called him retarded. Not the way to get your point across, but his backwoods line of thinking earned that distinction.

It's the same ideal that keeps the HPV vaccine off the market and poor kids in Iraq. We want our kids to be educated but we don't let them read what they like.

My father was part of the group that wanted to ban "homosexual literature." Yeah Wilde and Melville liked dudes, but that doesn't mean their words and ideas can't educate. There's a reason their books are classics.

If people really cared they'd invest in a library for their kids rather than a plasma screen and a 360. Learning how to isolate yourself from society by getting lost in broadcasting is a much more abominable thing than reading about witches.

first its a christian belief that anything envolving "pagan" or "witchcraft" or anything nonchristian is bad. Second many people belief because of that, that banning anything that has that terminology is equally good and will keep the "evil" out.
third people act like that because it is considered fiction and it has a very middle school approach. Its a great book I am a fan, but not everyone is as open- minded and that is the worst thing about society

I LOVE the Harry Potter books. But Christians find witchcraft wrong, as the first person wrote. It's a relgious thing.

I am not religious, and I enjoy the books thoroughly!

some peoples lack a thorough thinkinf mind. they cannot look for a massage behind any book. it is all about good over evil. harry potter is the character thats stands all the odds to do good all through the way and in a way he is depicting us and our struggles to achieve the good i ourselves and others. if they had assited you in any that you recommend them to the next person, good for you.

some people think they encourage children to pursue witchcraft or want to be witches. also some people think that some of the events and themes are too scary or mature to be read by so many children.
