Because when your right side of your brain is damaged it sends a signal that bounces from the right side of your head to the top left side of your neck, then bounces to the lower right side of your neck, then bounces to the left side of your shoulder then bounces to the right side of your body. Bingo! The left side of you head is damage and the right side of you body after a few signals bounces around inside of you hurts. Clear enough for you?

The answer to this question is simple. The brain is divided into two hemispheres, right and left. Each hemisphere commands one side of the body. However, both cerebral hemispheres unite at the corpus callosum and the nerve fibers from each hemisphere form like an X. This is the reason why each hemisphere controls the side opposite to it. The left "half-brain" controls the side of the body opposite to it, the right. The right half-brain controls the left side of the body.
