My headlight on my T reg clio has blown 4 times in a fortnight. The glass bulb completely shatters. Is it possible to get power surges to just one side of the car? I do drive on back roads a lot and flick from dipped to main beam a fair bit, could that be part of the problem. Just want to get clued up before going to see an auto electrician.

It may sound daft but have you touched the glass when you were putting in the new lamps and is your battery/alternator OK.
If the battery is at the end of its life (3 years ish) have it checked
for free at a good accessory shop. They will check the alternator voltage as well.

REMEMBER when you are putting in a new bulb you must not touch the glass envolope at all the grease on your hands will react with the glass and make it fail.

Is it a glass bulb or a whole headlight made of glass? If it is just a bulb, like the other guy said, you could be getting water in it, but if it's a whole glass light then i would think maybe someone is knocking it out. Do you have any people mad at you?

Sounds very odd? You have no other electrical problems? When you install the light don't touch it use a cloth or paper towel to install. Alternatively it could be an over voltage from the alternator but I would expect additional problems if this was the case.
Change again but don't touch the bulb, hope this does the trick.

Maybe a faulty Earth contact, that could cause an arc effect and bust your bulb, take a look at the earth wire and see if it is well fixed to the chassis of the car, and check the other wires as well in case they are loose.

You best check to see if the lens and case is leaking. Any water on a hot bulb will disintegrate it. If you are changing the bulb, make sure your fingers do not touch the glass. Any oil residue, even clean hands will leave oil, will destroy the bulb.

This subject could be brought about via a defective voltage regulator interior the altenator and why this bulb purely - it may desire to have the shortest volume of twine from the battery to it inflicting the backside voltage drop which potential bigger voltagr to the bulb
