My BS in economics was worth almost nothing. I had to get More S to get a real job because of my degree. If I could afford it (curses to the 'dismal science') I would then get it Piled Higher and Deeper before I could hope to use it to make the real bucks.

Certainly you can flaunt your papers when selling insurance or stocks or bank services. The biggest part of that demands you be a good salesman. I got passed over for several stock broker jobs because people with degrees in music or philosophy could sell better than I could.

It could be worse, if you had a meteorology degree and were either ugly or had a truly aweful voice so that the local TV station or Weather Channel didn't want you, then you only have NOAA job openings to watch.
