The problem with these boiler that you get from the sheds is what do you do when it stops working. who stocks the spares |You may find yourself tied to the manufactures service engineers when it needs fixing. Some manufactures ar going along the road that they want any thing up to £ 200 for a service call this will cover the cost of 2 components and fitting but NOT include the PCB or main heat exchanger. The service department will require a credit card before a service call is booked.
Be warned buy cheep pay later.

Go for a Worcester, Vaillant, Baxi or one of the more well known makes.
Replacing a combi should cost no more than £ 500

The numbers 24 28 32 35 is the Kw. input for the domestic hot water 24 kw will give 1.8 gall/min (8 min fill the bath) 35 Kw for two bathroom houses 3.0 gal /min ( 4.5 min fill bath )
Would suggest 28 Kw for an average house.

Hi had just written loads of info about combi boilers and stuff but I just dropped my key board and it erased it all!

In short. Get someone to look at your boiler before you replace it. Always get a second opinion.

nine times out of ten it is something small such as the thermo couple.

I had a plumber tell me my boiler would never work again. I changed the thermocouple and has been fine since. If your pilot light is not coming on then this is more than likely the problem.

combi boilers are OK if you live in a small household but not so good in a larger family house.

If you get a combi keep your hot water tank otherwise if somebody is say doing the washing up at the same time as someone running a bath the combi will not always be able to cope.

Ravenheat are ok. so are Baxi

Hope this helps.

i would get a second opinion from a plumber/boiler engineer before buying a new boiler as you may get a few more years out of it before replacing. If you do decide to replace your boiler, always use a corgi registered plumber as your boiler will require registering with corgi and it will also have to be a condensing boiler (H.E.) except in extreme cases (and there is a procedure for this). In my experience, i would get a 32kw boiler as the hot water flow rate will be better (28kw and 32kw are about average for a 3bed house)

certain, attempt reducing the temperature on your boiler firstly. Make it so that you'll be able to easily contact the water popping out of your warm faucet. then you definitely can attempt your bathe correct. with somewhat of luck you've a thermostatic bathe, that you want with a combi boiler. when you're nonetheless having a similar issue, then that's probable the thermostat contained in the bathe valve is sticking and also you want to interchange it. verify also that both filters on your bathe manifold at the instantaneous are not blocked. once you've a mixer bathe on yor bath faucets, then use those to analyze with.

Sorry don't know all the stats on a combi boiler just that they are terrific; efficient, energy saving (you only heat the water that you use, rather like a shower) and most of all much cheaper to run.
