That depends. The scientific revolution ushered in a new era of discovery of knowledge through hypothesis and testing. It helped bring us out of the dark ages, which were mostly void of reason and critical thinking.

However, some of what we (re)learned in the scientific revolution had already been discovered in Greek and Roman eras.

So perhaps it should have been called the scientific revival.
