YES! I think the same thing. I have even seen dumbasses smoking at the same time. I guess they are stuck in the adolescent theory of "It won't happen to me," but they need to have some respect for those of us who know better!

Yes I hate it. My husband is one of those people. He hates it when I turn the car off. I am scarred of getting blown up too.

When they get themseves killed or someone else killed, they will ask the same question "Why did I keep the car running?"
I only know of Big Rigs that can keep running when filling safely.
I could be wrong about that part though.

there's actually almost no danger when you leave your car running at the pump...cars drive in and out and all around them all day...shutting the engine off is more of a courtesy thing so others don't have to be inundated with fumes.
