I like the word you have used in your question: "SEEM".
Just because something seems to be what it is, it does not necessarily mean that it actually is that which it seems to be.
Anyway, some would argue that time is relative to the observer, and your observation would be correct. But is it?
In my perspective, though, I think that with the familiarity with things makes them seem so easier or faster, and so on.
But then again, some say that "time flies when you're having fun." You were probably having more fun than the previous year!

Because each new year is a smaller percentage of the time you have been on Earth and the time you are comparing it with. For example: When you are 5 years old 1 year is 1/5 of your life. When you are 20 years old 1 year is 1/20 of your life and when you are 80 it is only 1/80 of your life etc.

This surely relies upon on your thoughts. because you're a growing to be adolescent, the years seem to bypass extra swifter because college eats away fairly some the time. you save busy with schoolwork and social complications (which includes boyfriend fights, or pal quarrels). once you develop into an human being, although, you would wish that each and every thing would bypass by swifter again... wish that helped!

Our expectations are set.
Nothing surprises us anymore, and as we get older, we are constantly looking at the horizon.
Kids live in the now... they seem to understand (or are ignorant of all else) that the 'now' is fun, enjoyable, entertaining, and tomorrow will be too.
I try this, by refusing to look at a watch or clock on the weekends for at least one day. It's really enjoyable and that's the day that seems to last a touch longer... I like it.

It's all about perception. When you are 1 year old a year is 100% of your total existence. When you are 10 a year is only 10% of your existence and so on. As each year passes your frame of reference expands and a year seems like less time making it seem like time has sped up.

~~~ bill w ,,,,Pespective is Reality. This is one of the examples of Time being An Illusion. "Time" is always "slower" at the dentist or stuck in traffic than it is at your favorite Music Festival or during a sex filled evening with your lover. The same applies to getting older/mature and the developement of your intellect and your awareness of Self and The Universe. Einstein proved long ago that time can be manipulated,,, to what degree is the question.
science has shown that the older we get, our concept of time shifts with it, though not the reality of time itself. A youngster sees each day passing very slowly especially when he's at school. To an adult the concept of of time seems to shrink to varying degrees, from person to person and age to age.
The reason for this is unclear, but studies of subjects have proven this to be the case, more often than not.
------------------------------
My personal Unscientific view is, some mad scientist is stealing time with a quantum time spectrometer/extractor made by ACME and used only one time by Marvin the Martian and twice by Wyle E Cyote...
You get busier and lose track of days, weeks and months and before you know it another year has gone by.
When this happens, it means it's time to slow down and take it a little easier.
If you are busy with life, the year seems to go by quickly.
