this season might be his last season if usc wins the national title (which is very unlikely considering his team is too young and inexperienced to beat ohio state). there's lots of evidence and sources close to him that make it seem carroll is interested. the arizona cardinals and his representatives have discussed it. so what do you think? not that i like usc, but i personally think it's stupid, you build a national powerhouse that's as close to a dynasty as there is in college football and you just leave....dumb.

I hadn't heard he was considering it.
Interesting. I agree it'd be dumb.
Not only is USC as close to a dynasty as there is in college football, but he already tried the NFL and didn't do so great. He should just stick to what works.

No way he leaves. He has already coached in the NFL and has as close to a dream job in football as possible. SoCal, school that is rich in tradition, top talent banging down the doors of your school to play there. If he were smart he would stay put and keep USC in the top 5 of college football every year for the next decade like Michigan, Ohio State, FSU, Miami and UF back in the 90's. He might go back to the NFL to prove he could do more since he only had a 33-31 record with the Jets and Pats.

The age old question of Pete Carroll staying at USC comes up again. He seems very loyal to USC so it wouldn't shock me if he stays around again. It's all about where he would feel more comfortable at. Just because you would make a whole lot more money in the NFL doesnt mean you would be a whole lot happier. Making that move means you take over a disaster like Arizona or Oakland, but if someone could turn those type teams around Carroll could do it.

He has long-term job security, and almost cult status at USC. He will make excellent money, and has a far more profound influence on "unpaid" collegiate players.

Still, It makes sense that he would take a shot at the Arizona job. With Leinart, he would have a leg up. Arizona is where coaches and players go to ruin their careers.

He's a good coach, but kind of "rah rah" cheerleader type of motivator. Pro players aren't prone to follow that. He ran into problems in the NFL with his style wearing thin.

He should stay at USC and enjoy his legend status. You can bet USC will make any decsion he makes difficult.

If i were him i wouldnt leave. He has a good football team and a nice QB who is a freshman. Just look at what he has and it would probably keep anyone interested. I wouldnt want to go to the cardinals because they are the worst team in the NFL. The only reason i see him going to the Arizona Cardinals is to be with Leinart.

he's not leaving. why the hell would he? he can have a lot more fun and make the same kind of money coaching at usc, and get a lot more out of it by helping kids just out of high school, rather than spoiled rich athletes. there isn't that much evidence linking him to any other job? i can't stand usc, but i don't think he's gonna leave, much as i would like to see that hapen, it would be such a dumb move by him

I've never understood why a successful college coach would leave for the NFL, especially in Carroll's case, where he already has been there/done that and didn't do all that great.

In college, your success feeds itself in your recruiting, and if you field a .500 team, you can stay forever. In college, you get a building named after you; in the pros, you get fired if you don't make the playoffs in three years.

i think pete will entertain any offer, but it's clear that his heart is with the trojans. he has expressed many times that he loves the college football world. he's probably one of the highest paid coaches in college football and he'll be able to continue the success. why leave that?
