heres the deal. I had my tubes tied in May of 2005, everything has been fine, cycle has been on time, no problems. However I havent had a cycle in two months now. I'm scared to go to the doctor because I know there is a reason it hasnt come I just dont think I want to know what it may be. If u know of anything else that could cause a woman to skip a cycle, please include that in ur answer. What should I do?

There are SO many things that could cause you to skip a cycle. Stress, illness, changing hormone levels, perimenopause (you don't say how old you are)... lotsa stuff.

Tubal ligations have a very low failure rate (less than half a percent), but it does happen... there is a slim possibility your tubes have reconnected. And after a tubal ligation, pregnancy becomes a much more risky customer, with a 1 in 3 chance of the pregnancy being ectopic.

So basically you should take a pregnancy test and see a doctor if it comes up positive, or your cycle doesn't resume next month.

You tell him that you're pregnant, and say that when tubes are tied it is not always 100% effective because they can become untied. You can say whenever someone has sex there is always a chance of someone getting pregnant and he should have used a condom (I am assuming he didn't because he thought it was safe because you're tubes are tied.) Tell him that you're not getting an abortion or at least I hope your not and you can either decide together if you are ready for a baby or if you are going to put it up for adoption. You need to work together. This can help strengthen your relationship if you let it. You had sex, and now you're pregnant I am pretty sure they teach that to you in high school. Sex=baby. So you have some tough decisions ahead of you so Good Luck.

Just because you not having a period, doesn't mean you don't have cycle. You do--it's just that this cycle has lasted more than 2 months. It is possible to get pregnant even after tubes are tied--sometimes they can repair--the human body has a marvelous ability to fix whatever is wrong with it! Other things that can cause a long cycle would include late ovulation or early menopause. Don't be afraid to seek out your doctor. You are risking so much more in not knowing than in finding out. You'll be okay. If you are worried about being pregnant and prefer not to hear it from a doctor, take a home pregnancy test before you.
Good luck and God bless! I will remember you in my prayers this evening!

Yes, although it is rare, it can happen. A friend of mine got pregnant after having her tubes tied. Stress and illness can cause a woman to skip periods. If you think you are pregnant you need to get to the doctor for a blood test because home tests can take longer to pick up a tubal pregnancy. (16-50% of pregnancies after a tubal ligation end up being tubal pregnancies)

Chance of pregnany with Tubal Ligation (meaning that the ends where not burnt) is a 0.5% chance. The body can heal its self very well reataching your tubes the ligatures ca become undone and if the tubes come close enough to get that egg to the uterus it will.

You may be reaching early menapause (I do not know your age)
Stress
weight loss or gain
Diet
anxiety

can all be causes of your skipped period

i had my tubes tied also. at the time i agreed to it, my OB made me sign an agreement that there is a 1 in 200-400 chance that the procedure doesn't work. Your missed period can also be stress related or may be something else. I don't have a regular period either, never really did. Hope that helps, good luck!

Changes in your hormones can cause it and low body fat. If you were to get pregnant after tubal they say it is most likely to happen in the 1st 3 years. You should go to the doctor to make sure that you do not have a tubal pregnancy as a large percentage of pregnancies after a tubal are tubal pregnancies and can cause serious health problems and ultimately death.
Go to the doctor.

If the procedure was done correctly then no. They do not 'untie', there is always a chance, for a male, that a vas can come undone. But there are other reasons that you may be off on your cycle.

Hormones, your weight is too heavy or too light, stress all could cause you to skip. It is possible to have made an error during the surgery and you could be pregnant. Get an EPT from the store and check.
