Alex B. Ph D.'s Question:
Why must people insist on hating our president simply because they subliminally hate America?

NOPE!

It is because of a LOVE for America that we hate to see what the Bush administration has done to it.

Is Bush's incompetency and the disaster in Iraq so bad that all conservatives can do at this point is claim Liberals hate America because they've run out of excuses for Bush? Sounds it,huh?

I don't subliminally hate America...maybe he does though. I think it's ridiculous to blame liberals for all the things that are wrong with this country...everyone seems to go on a rant about welfare. Welfare was started to help people out, but then it got all messed up. Why? Don't you think the people at the top of the welfare pile are making plenty of money??? And you can bet THEY aren't liberals. They actually are making a lot of money off keeping people where they are. If you are ranting about welfare, how about coming up with a solution, instead of accusing Americans of being America haters? Alex B has the ph.d, why not do something productive with it? Remember, it's the conservatives who WANT war so they can make more money. So you should actually be hating YOURSELVES (in fact, you probably do hate yourselves)

If it weren't for liberals there would be no workers comp, no benefits, no forty hour work week. We'd all still be working in unsafe conditions for 80 hours a week for no minimum wage and children would be working too.

You know what? I DO hate Bush and what he's done. He OK'd Eli/Lilly's use of mercury in MMR vaccines when it wasn't proven safe because Eli Elly Co is an old family friend. For that, my life has been changed FOREVER. So if you want to call me an AMERICAN HATER then I suggest you walk in MY SHOES for a week!!!!

In reading Alex' question, I am not seeing where he mentioned the word "Liberal".. I think maybe you are reacting on a guilty conscience, just a tad.... As it is not wise to assume....

As for Libs hating America, I think if they would do something for the well being of America, and not self gain, I would probably fall over from the shock!

Why do cons imagine that Bush, Cheney and/or Palin (McCain too) were (might want to be) sturdy for this usa, at the same time as, after 8 yrs. we are in the biggest crises in US historic previous? And might want to be in worse structure if the safeguards put in position after the entire melancholy hadn't been? shield that !!

AlBPhd doesn't speak for all Conservatives. I don't think you hate America. I think you harm American with all your misguided notions, but "hate"? no.

As for Iraq, it's not the best of situations, to be sure, but who knows how it might have turned out if you'd ever supported the troops, the mission or the President.

And with your grandstanding of the Abu Ghraib scandals, crimes by the troops, the false Gitmo accusations, the exposure of important intelligence operations that compromised our ability to locate and track terrorists, you Dems have done more to harm our ability to fight the terrorists and succeed in Iraq than al Qaeda ever did.

And you close your eyes to the heavy price the world will pay.

John Returns says he has more retorts to defend Bush's Incompentency. So at least he is now admitting Bush is incompetent. Good for him.

Why is YOUR opinion the only "correct" one? I still support Bush and I don't think he's incompetent. Has he done a fantastic job? Not really - but he's doing the best he can with the messes he was left with. (Underfunded military and intel agencies, the failure of the Clinton administration to deal with terrorism in any form, etc.)

I don't think everyone who doesn't approve of Bush hates America - but some definitely do. I think the people who felt that the victims on 9/11 "deserved" it hate America, but just for disagreeing with the Pres? No way. I disagreed with Clinton all the time - doesn't mean I hate my country.

Why is it that people like you call people like me names when you realize we don't agree with you? It's the same thing.

As William Sloan Coffin so eloquently wrote:

"The true patriots are those who carry on a lover's quarrel with their country as a reflection of God's eternal lover's quarrel with the entire world."

Good patriots have a responsibility to speak out when a leader sets flawed policies.

You are right it's getting to be annoying! That bashing and the name calling. Bashing and name calling has never gotten anyone to see the others point/side. Causing a greater divide.

It appears that way.

Perhaps people should recall a great American named Thomas Jefferson who said, "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism."

Turbo, a little bit too much hasty generalization there, no?

No.

The other one's the Bush defenders knee-jerkingly use are

"Traitor"

"Terrorist lover"

Those are the only three they have. They can't defend him with arguments so they use those three 100% of the time.
