Actually, Halle Berry met Wesley Snipe while filming Jungle Fever, they started going out and in an argument they had he slapped her so hard that her ear drum burst.

She refused to share that information with the public but from the clues she gave, was a toss up between Wesley Snipes or Christopher Williams. Hallie Berry was in Jungle Fever as Vivian, Samuel L Jackson's crackhead girlfriend and she met Wesley on the set. She did say that she got into an argument with "someone she was seeing" and he slapped her so hard, she became deaf in one ear. I know one thing, if Wesley or Christopher hit her like that, they need to be ashamed of themselves! Bruce looks to much like a gentleman to do such a thing!

I heard it was Wesley too. The R&B singer, Christopher Williams, said people thought it was him when the news first came out. But he quickly corrected the rumor.
Halle was in Jungle Fever. She played the drug addicted girlfriend of Wesley's brother, played by Samuel L. Jackson.

Dom's got it right. Berry has said in interviews that it was an ex-boyfriend who slapped her, and although she won't confirm it, people believe it to be Snipes.
EDIT: Yeah, good thinking! She won't name the guy in the press, but she'll spill it to some fan who e-mails her at her fansite. Gee, why didn't anyone else think of that?!?!?!

It wasn't Wesley or Bruce, it was her ex-husband David Justice who hit her causing
her hearing to be damaged.
